None of this means your child can’t do it. Usually it means an hour a week, with most of the practice done alone at the kitchen table, isn’t enough.
Often the fix isn’t a better tutor but a different format: more hours, and practice done with a teacher.
The university offer needs a 6. The last test came back a 4.

Why a course
Many students with a tutor improve slowly: the hour often goes on re-explaining, and the practice in between gets little feedback. The intensive flips that: more time with the teacher, a fixed plan through the syllabus, and practice that happens in the room.

The format
Monday to Friday, 90 minutes, in a group at 09:30, 11:15, 13:00 or 14:45 (New York time). 8 weeks. Every session mixes explanation and practice; what changes is which one leads.
New material, worked live on the shared board, with short bursts of practice in between so nobody just watches for ninety minutes. The teacher can see every student’s board, so a wrong step can be caught in the moment rather than next week.
Here the practice comes first. Everyone works through the week’s set on their own board. The teacher steps in the moment someone is stuck, and stops the group for five minutes when the same mistake shows up twice. It’s the homework, done with a teacher in the room.
Everything happens on one shared whiteboard, so your child needs a tablet with a pen. An iPad with an Apple Pencil is ideal; any tablet with a stylus works. A ten-minute setup guide arrives before week 1.
Groups are kept to 8 so one teacher can follow every board. Small enough that the teacher knows where each student is; big enough that you see how someone else attacks a problem. Same group, all eight weeks.

The October cohort starts Monday 26 October and finishes Friday 18 December. Every lab session works past-paper questions on that week’s topic, plus a short set from earlier weeks so nothing fades.

Exponents and logarithms, then function notation, domain and range, inverse and composite functions.

Transformations of graphs, quadratics and the discriminant, rational functions, exponential and logarithmic models.
Week 4 · from 16 Nov
Right-angled and non-right-angled triangles, the sine and cosine rules, radians, arcs and sectors, the unit circle, trig graphs, identities and equations.
Week 5 · from 23 Nov
Rules, chain, product and quotient; tangents and normals; stationary points; optimisation.
Week 6 · from 30 Nov
Antiderivatives, definite integrals, areas between curves, kinematics. Then descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, and getting the most out of the GDC.
Week 7 · from 7 Dec
Venn and tree diagrams, conditional probability, the binomial and normal distributions. Then a full Paper 1 and Paper 2 under exam conditions, marked.
Week 8 · from 14 Dec
The mock papers taken apart together, targeted revision on what they showed, a final paper, and an exam-day plan for the mocks.

With a parent. The teacher asks where your child is and where they need to be, then does one short question with your child on the shared board, and tells you honestly whether eight weeks are the right fit. If they aren’t, we say so.

That’s deliberate. Eight weeks puts the whole syllabus back in place right before mocks, which is when predicted grades and university conversations get serious. In the new year a second intensive runs up to the May exam, built around past papers and exam technique, and students from this cohort get first refusal on those seats.

It is, and it’s the point. Two of the five are lab sessions: the homework, done with the teacher in the room instead of alone at 11pm. Most of the practice happens inside those evenings rather than on top of them.
Teaching sessions are recorded and shared with the group. Lab sessions aren’t, because the point of a lab session is being there. One or two missed evenings over eight weeks is fine. A fixed weekly clash, like training every Tuesday, is worth raising on the call: when a second group runs at another time, your child can join that group on the clash day, fixed for the eight weeks.
A tablet with a pen. It’s the one thing that isn’t optional, because every session is handwritten on the shared whiteboard. We use the entry-level iPad with an Apple Pencil ourselves: roughly €500 all-in, and it’s theirs for university afterwards. A Samsung Galaxy Tab with an S Pen works too. Don’t have one? Say so on the call. We send the exact list, it arrives in a day or two, and it needs to be set up by the Sunday before we start.
There are 4 group times between mid-afternoon and evening Amsterdam time, and the application shows them on your own clock. Pick the one that lands after school where you are. That covers India, the Gulf, Europe and the UK. In another time zone? Apply and choose “none of these”. Groups for other time zones open when enough families ask, and applicants hear first.
That’s up to you. The course covers both the teaching and the practice, so a separate tutor isn’t required. Some families keep one for the IA.

A group runs with at least 4 students. If yours doesn’t reach that by the start date, you choose: another group time at the same start, the next start date, or a full refund. A full group has a waitlist; joining it costs nothing, and if a seat opens the first family on the list gets 24 hours to reserve it.

Aerospace engineer from TU Delft.
